Information on our dementia friendly swimming sessions and the Bristol swimming pools that have them.

Dementia friendly swimming sessions are quieter sessions at swimming pools with trained staff and appropriate facilities.

You don't need to be able to swim for these dementia friendly sessions. They are for people of all abilities and if you want advice you can speak to our pool staff.

All our accessible swimming sessions are in a safe, supportive environment with:

  • staff specially trained by St Monica Trust
  • improved signage
  • larger, unisex changing booths
  • constant temperatures of 27 to 30 degrees

See our Dementia Friendly Swimming video and find out what some of our swimmers think.

Carers and the dementia friendly swimming sessions

If you have a carer they can come swimming for free.

We have unisex and accessible changing rooms where your carer can help you change.

If your carer doesn't want to swim then most pools have a space at the poolside or in a viewing gallery where they can sit.
