Apply for a daily exemption for Blue Badge holders making occasional journeys in a vehicle they don't own.
If you're a Blue Badge holder making occasional journeys in a vehicle you don't own, you can apply for daily exemptions from the zone charge. This applies to vehicles that don't meet the zone's emission standards.
Check whether the vehicle is nationally exempt or will be charged on the online vehicle checker (GOV.UK).
If your application is approved, you'll get 30 daily exemptions. You'll need to activate a daily exemption each time you travel in the zone. Each exemption is valid for one vehicle for one calendar day. If you need to travel in two or more different vehicles in a day, you'll need to activate an exemption for each vehicle. You can apply for more daily exemptions if you need them.
You can activate the exemptions on the day of travel or in advance if you know the date you're travelling. If you need to cancel an exemption, you'll need to cancel before the date of travel.
Activate each daily exemption online using the MiPermit website or MiPermit Smartphone App. You'll need the registration number and date of travel.
You'll be notified of the outcome of your application within 15 working days. You're not exempt from the Clean Air Zone charge until your application is approved, so allow enough time for your application to be processed.
All exemptions are free of charge.
The Clean Air Zone is managed by cameras with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). When you've activated a daily exemption, the system will recognise your vehicle automatically. You do not need to display anything in your vehicle.
This exemption will end on 31 March 2023.
You may also apply for a Blue Badge Holder Longer Term Exemption for a vehicle registered to your address.
