What is the Adoption Support Fund

The Adoption Support Fund is a national Fund to increase access to therapeutic support for children adopted from local authority care.

Who can benefit from the fund

The Fund is available for children and young people up to and including the age of 21 (or 25 with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Education Health & Care Plan) who have been adopted from local authority care in England or adopted from Wales but living in England.

The Fund also includes support for guardians caring for:

  • children who were previously looked after
  • children adopted from other countries via inter-country adoptions

You can find more information about the Adoption Support Fund and how it works on the Adoption Support Fund website (GOV.UK) Go to https://www.gov.uk/guidance/adoption-support-fund-asf (opens new window)

List of approved providers

We have set up an electronic purchasing system of accredited providers who offer therapy funded by Adoption Support Fund.

We aim to make all purchases of ASF therapy via this system, except where adoptive families need specialist services that are not available from providers on the list.

This application process lets providers show that they're able to offer high quality, safe services.

Who can apply to be on the list

Organisations and individuals that provide the following types of therapy can apply to be on the approved list, as these can be funded by the Adoption Support Fund:

This isn't a complete list.

Geographical areas the fund covers

We may be responsible for adopted children living anywhere in the UK, not only in Bristol and surrounding areas.  For this reason, we may need ASF provision in different geographical areas.
