What the Alive 'N' Kicking offer is, who qualifies for the scheme and when the next programmes start

The Alive 'N' Kicking offer 

We provide a free children’s lifestyle weight management service that helps overweight children and young people and their families to reach and maintain a healthier weight.

This service provides programmes about nutrition and physical activity for families with children aged between 2 to 16 years old.

Qualifying for the scheme

Parents of children aged 2 to 4 years can attend our toddlers programme, they must be registered at a GP Practice in Bristol.

Children aged 5 to 16 years old must be on or above the 91 BMI centile for their age and registered at a GP Practice in Bristol.

Joining the scheme

Your commitment

Programmes usually run once a week for 10 weeks. We recommend attending all the sessions. 

Programme information

Parents and carers are encouraged to join in with their children. You will:

  • learn about healthy eating and nutrition
  • get help to make small, easy changes to benefit your family’s health
  • take part in food preparation sessions, making fruit kebabs, smoothies and healthy wraps
  • find out how to shop healthier by learning how to better understand food labels
  • join in activity sessions that show how exercise can be fun, play new games and build your skills and confidence

After the programme

You'll be offered follow up appointments with your programme leader six months and 12 months after you finish the programme.
