This calculator is only applicable for adults over 18 years old and who would be receiving a service provided by Bristol City Council.
Read our Charging leaflet (pdf, 219KB)before using the Online Contribution Calculator.
What information you may be asked for
When we calculate your contribution we follow the Care Act 2014 guidance, so when you use the calculator you should give information about:
- your income, for example, state or occupational pension, Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance (AA), or any other benefits
- any earnings
- details of any savings, investments, or other capital
- details of essential spending, such as council tax, water rates, rent, mortgage
- details of any expenditure related to a disability
The value of your home may be taken into account depending on your circumstances. We’ll ask a few questions to find out if this will be the case.
If you want to read more go to our website.
If you enter information which shouldn’t be taken into account, the calculator will tell you and automatically exclude it from the calculation.
How to use the Online Contribution Calculator
The more detail you give the more accurate the calculation will be, but it will take a bit more time to fill in.
It may take about 15 minutes or more.
How to start
Select the "Calculate my contribution button" and we’ll guide you through step by step.
To start a calculation you need to choose what type of care you may need. There are two options:
- non-residential care, such as services provided in your own home or community by us, home care or day care and respite care in a Care Home.
- residential care such as services provided on a long-term basis in residential care.
It won’t calculate contributions for short-term residential care or temporary placements. To find out more about these services go to the page about short-term support.
Get an estimate of how much you might have to pay
Anything you enter into the Calculator is completely confidential.
You can save or print a copy of your calculation for your own use.
The calculation will estimate the maximum you might be asked to contribute each week. You will not be charged more than the actual cost of services provided to you.
A few services are subject to fixed charges or might be exempt from a charge. You can read more details information about exemptions in the Charging leaflet.
