Resource Allocation System
How we work out a personal budget to meet your social care and support needs.
A Resource Allocation System (RAS) is used to work out a personal budget to meet your social care and support needs based on an assessment of your need.
The RAS in Bristol is based on a Common RAS Framework. It was developed at a national level by The Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS)
RAS Assessment Scoring Sheet
Information on the RAS Assessment Scoring Sheet (pdf, 52k) (opens new window) identifies your areas of need and the points attached to each answer used in the RAS as part of the assessment process.
RAS Financial Framework
The RAS financial framework (pdf, 85k) (opens new window) shows how your point score translates into an indicative personal budget.
An indicative personal budget is an approximate figure that may be adjusted upwards or downwards to meet your eligible need. It’s worked out as a weekly figure.
We'll carry out a financial assessment to decide if you need to contribute towards the cost of your care.
