Local elections Thursday 6 May 2021
What elections are taking place, when you need to register to vote or apply for a postal or proxy vote.
Elections will take place on Thursday 6 May 2021 to elect:
- the Mayor of Bristol
- all Bristol City Council Councillors
- the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC)
- the Combined Authority Mayor for the West of England (WECA)
The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday 19 April 2021.
If you want to set up a postal or a proxy vote, do it as early as possible and by the deadline.
The deadline to apply to vote by post is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021.
This is also the deadline to change or cancel an existing postal vote.
The deadline to apply to vote by proxy is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021.
Poll cards will be sent out in mid-March. Your poll card tells you your current voting arrangements and if your voting in the polling station it will include details of where you need to go.
If you've lost your poll card, find out where your polling station will be by entering your address on our ward and polling station finder. You do not need to take your poll card to the polling station with you in order to vote.
Information for candidates and agents wishing to stand at the election
Information for candidates and agents wishing to stand for the Bristol Mayoral Election or as a Bristol City Councillor is available on the Electoral Commission website.
Nomination papers can be submitted to the Local Returning Officer between Tuesday 23 March and Thursday 8 April. Find more details on our Information for candidates page.
