Check yourself

Check yourself

The NHS Health Check is a free service for adults in England between the ages of 40 and 74.

The NHS Health Check is a free check up of your overall health.

It's a chance to:

  • find out whether you're at higher risk of getting certain health problems, such as stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia
  • get simple advice to reduce your risk

You can have an NHS Health Check if you’re aged 40 to 74 and:

  • have not had a stroke
  • don’t already have heart disease, diabetes or kidney disease

You’ll get a letter from your GP inviting you for an NHS Health Check every five years. If you haven’t received a letter but think you should have, contact your GP surgery.
