How to apply for a Christmas trading pitch at St Nicks Markets.

St Nicholas Market is home to the largest collection of local, independent indoor and outdoor market traders in Bristol.

Operating from a uniquely historical setting situated in the centre of Bristol, the market is widely recognised, as being a great example of a thriving and much-loved alternative retail destination.

Christmas trading period

The 2018 Christmas trading period starts on Thursday, 13 December with the addition of 4 Sundays starting from 25 November in-line with the indoor market.

The market will operate on Mondays (limited availability for non-food traders and subject to product compatibility with the Vegan and Wellbeing Market) and Tuesdays, Wednesdays (for food traders), Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Closing date: 1 October 2018

You can apply for a food stall or a non-food stall.

If you apply for a food stall you must register your food preparation premises with the local Environmental Health Office in the area in which the unit is stored or in the area you pay council tax to. You must do this at least 28 days before trading. 

Anyone coming into contact with food must have hygiene training before they're allowed to work in a food premises. You must give us a copy of your Level 2 hygiene certificate when you apply for a stall.

Costs and payment

Costs of a Christmas trading pitch at St Nicholas Market are:

  • Non-food £35 per trade, Saturdays and Sundays £40
  • Food £40 per trade, Saturdays and Sundays £45

If your application is successful, we will require the full balance of your pitch before trading commences.

A deposit of 50% of your overall trading fees must be paid by, Monday, 29 October 2018 then the remaining balance by Friday, 30 November 2018.   

What you get as a trader

Traders get:

  • 8ft x 8ft traditional market umbrella
  • two 6ft x 2ft tables
  • access to electricity
  • one car parking space in a city centre location close to the market subject to availability
