We did
This consultation attracted significant interest, with a number of very detailed responses for consideration by the design and project teams. In light of this feedback, council officers would like to allow appropriate time to review the initial proposals, considering concerns and suggestions made. We will then refine the plans and hold Traffic Regulation Order consultations, which are needed to make certain changes to the highway, ahead of any work taking place.
A separate document will follow setting out responses to frequent comments and suggestions and detailing how and where the initial proposals which were consulted on have been revised.
Further information
Bristol City Council and South Gloucestershire Council proposed a range of safety measures, starting from where the A432 meets the A4174 in South Gloucestershire, heading southwest through three busy high streets in Downend, Fishponds and Easton.
Just over two miles of the route falls within South Gloucestershire, including Badminton Road and Downend Road, and three miles falls within the city of Bristol, including Fishponds Road and Stapleton Road.
Proposals included:
- Reducing some speed limits from 30mph to 20mph
- New and improved pedestrian crossings
- Measures to slow down traffic
- New road markings and signage
The aim of the project was to improve driver behaviour on the A432, to significantly reduce the chance of any road traffic incidents, especially serious or fatal ones.
