Is there an online service?

A growing range of popular services can now be accessed online. An online service is different from a web page in that you can apply directly for a service. An example is our online street lighting fault reporting service through which you can report a problem with any street light in Bristol.

See our 'Online Services' page for a full list.

Search our website

You can search our website to find out about the service you're interested in and how to contact someone about the service directly. Our web pages contain full contact details: postal address, telephone, fax and email.

There is a search box at the top of this page. Enter the words you want to search for, then click on the 'Go' button.

Writing or e-mailing the council

If you would like to e-mail the council, please use our website to find the e-mail address of the service or department you need. Use the search (at the top of this page) and describe the service you are seeking e.g. 'waste and recycling'. When you get to the service's pages, their contact details (postal, telephone and fax) will be displayed.

There is further contact information on the customer service centre contacts page.

Telephoning the council

The councils main switchboard number is 0117-922 2000. Other contact numbers can be found on the relevant pages of this website, or see our customer service centre contact page for the main numbers, including emergency out-of-hours numbers.

Contacting the council about an education matter

Children and Young People's Services has a separate web site. If your enquiry is about an education matter, please see the Children and Young People's services website.

Contacting your councillor

See our 'Councillor Finder' page and follow the instructions to find your local councillor. Councillors can normally be contacted by telephone, fax, e-mail, in writing or they may hold a surgery, where you can discuss a matter in person.

Contacting your MP or MEP

If you would like to write to your MP or MEP, see our page on Bristol's Members of Parliament and Members of the European Parliament.

Personal visits

Some council offices are open for personal visits. Please contact the relevant service or department to see if you can make a personal visit.

See visiting the Council and offices map.
