Community facilities in Bristol

Withywood Centre, Queens Road, BS13 8QABristol is home to many different community centres. All are run and managed by voluntary groups and organisations, independently from Bristol City Council.

Bristol's community centres are at the heart of community life and reflect the very diverse make-up of Bristol's local neighbourhoods.

Between them, they offer a wide range of activities and facilities, including small and large rooms for meetings, halls for events, shows, arts productions or private parties. Some also have a bar, a café, a skittle alley or snooker tables.

Community centres are friendly, welcoming places and offer some of the best value facilities for meetings and events in Bristol.

The following pages contain general details about community centres in Bristol, both those owned by the Council, as well as independently owned facilities in Bristol.

We are also developing information for people who manage community centres or who may be looking to set up new community facilities. This information will be added when it becomes available. Please contact us if you require any of these details in the meantime.

News Update: St Werburghs Community Centre

The joint bid by St Werburghs Community Centre and Bristol City Council for £1M of Government funding to refurbish the Centre has been successful.

The funding has been provided by the Office of the Third Sector (Cabinet Office) to refurbish and improve the St Werburghs Centre, on the condition that it is used to improve an existing Council-owned asset, prior to handing it over to the voluntary & community sector.

The money will pay for the complete refurbishment of the existing building and the construction of an annexe in the car park at the rear.

Please see the press release for more details.

Community Assets Conference

The Council's first Community Assets Conference took place on 21st May 2008 and proved a very popular event. Unfortunately, we were unable to offer a place to everyone who applied.
The information on this web page is provided especially for those who expressed an interest in the conference but were unable to attend.
