Congratulations to the Dolphin School on achieving the Essential Award!
The school demonstrated good practice across a range of areas. The Dolphin School has effectively implemented several methods to develop an understanding of the needs of the schools population via feedback from staff and families, EMHO supporting classes, CPOMS systems, worry boxes, pupil voice and one to one coaching sessions.
The school has established a strong Healthy Schools steering group with representation from adults, governors, staff and families. The Leadership team at the Dolphin School is also dedicated to providing mental health and wellbeing support to all, including free one to one confidential counselling sessions for staff and a wellbeing survey to all staff each year. Support for pupils includes weekly pastoral sessions out of class, play therapy sessions, one to one sessions with EMHP, and a family support worker to support families.
In addition, as a result of pupil’s voice, and staff and families feedback, the school has:
- introduced “Family Gardening Club” sessions
- introduced a “Calm Club” at lunch away from the playground
- made improvements to healthier options on the Breakfast Club menu
