Essential Award: March 2023 to March 2026

Congratulations to Broomhill Infant School on achieving the Essential Award!

Broomhill Infant School have demonstrated good practice across all areas of the Healthy Schools programme, particularly around pupil and staff wellbeing and physical activity.

The school supports children’s health and addresses challenges in their community, by effectively using data sources such as their Healthy Schools Community Profile, Healthy Schools Surveys, creative curriculum, school, and class council.

Broomhill Infant School have an ethos that supports pupils to be creative and influence decision making in the school and ensure inclusivity of all pupil’s voices.

Pupil feedback has inspired creative initiatives for the school community. For example, as a result of class councils, the school raised money to improve resources at playtime. They now have a new trim trail in the playground that the children love, and they are in the process of saving up for ramps for the bike area. Pupils have also been able to influence the school’s charity activities, for example, the school now collects food to donate to the local food bank.

Broomhill Infant School also ensure that staff wellbeing needs are met by creating space for conversation and social events such as termly wellbeing team meetings, kindness mugs, an unofficial buddy system, fun activities, team building events and more.

The school made extra efforts to ensure that children in KS1 are more active by having access to continuous provision and the schools’ extensive grounds and stimulating outside area.

Well done Broomhill Infant School!
