Weighbridge operator license
To operate a public weighbridge you must apply for a certificate of competence which is issued by the Chief Inspector for Weights and Measures for your local authority.
You must have sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of your duties.
Will tacit consent apply?
No. It is in the public interest that the Council must process your application before it can be granted and a Public Weighbridge operator may not operate until they have been issued with a certificate. If you have not heard from the Council within a reasonable period, please contact us.
The target completion period for applications is 60 days.
Please note there are no fees payable.
Apply by email
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you do not wish to apply through the online application process. There are no fees applicable.

We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked, if you are located in the UK, the Citizens Advice consumer service will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
