What is the Bristol Equality Charter, how we are involved, how your organisation can sign up.

The Bristol Equality Charter

The  pdf Bristol Equality Charter(224 KB) is a city-wide project created by over 20 organisations in partnership with us.

Unique to Bristol, it reflects the city's values. The Charter invites everyone to work together for continuous improvement in equality.

With over 250 signatories from across the city, the Charter represents a growing movement for change.

We support the Charter and the Equality Network by:

  • organising meetings
  • working with outside experts
  • inviting guest speakers

Guidance and toolkit

If you sign the Charter, you need to:

  • use its ideas in how you work
  • check how well you're doing
  • speak up for fairness and inclusion

We've created a  pdf guidance and toolkit(1.27 MB) to help your organisation take action.

Why sign up to the Charter

The charter is free to join and open to everyone.

This is a voluntary way to show your commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

When you sign up, you can:

  • set your own goals (there's no award or test)
  • show others you're working to stop unfair treatment
  • help make Bristol a fairer place for everyone

Bristol Equality Network

All charter signatories have access to the Bristol Equality Network.

This is a forum for sharing best practices related to equality and inclusion across the city.

We hold four meetings a year to:

  • promote partnership working
  • collectively explore solutions to address structural inequalities for different communities
  • hear from experts within their field on effective interventions
  • share good practice and resources via a digital platform
