The West of England Women’s Commission brings together organisations from across the region to tackle inequality affecting women and girls.
It builds on the work of the former Bristol Women’s Commission
What the Commission does
The Commission works with partners to improve outcomes for women and girls across the West of England.
It focuses on:
- identifying the main issues affecting women and girls
- using data and lived experience to understand inequality
- influencing policy, strategy and decision making
- supporting organisations to work together
- promoting action that leads to real change
How it works
The Commission covers Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, and South Gloucestershire.
It is a partnership of organisations from different sectors, including:
- local government
- health services
- education
- business
- police and criminal justice
- voluntary and community organisations
Priority areas
The Commission uses task groups to focus on key issues.
Current areas of work include:
- women’s health
- higher and further education
- tackling misogyny
- women and transport
These groups develop practical actions to improve outcomes.
Working with partners
The Commission supports partners to:
- share knowledge and experience

This joined-up approach helps create a fairer and more inclusive West of England.
