Part timeServices
Peopleton Brook Care Farm and Wayland Stables Care Farm provide a calm, structured Alternative Learning Provision for young people with ASD, SEND, and SEMH, using the therapeutic benefits of animals, nature, and meaningful routines to re-engage learners and build confidence.
Based across two supportive countryside settings in Old Sodbury and Winterbourne, Bristol, our provision is designed for pupils who may struggle in mainstream education, including those experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, social communication difficulties, or emotional dysregulation.
Across both sites, learners access a wide range of practical, hands-on activities including:
- equestrian care
- small animal care
- yard and farm routines
- gardening
- forestry
- workshop-based learning
Sessions are purposeful and achievable, helping young people develop life skills, responsibility, teamwork, communication, independence, and resilience, while also encouraging physical activity and improving emotional wellbeing.
We deliver a consistent routine with clear expectations, alongside warm, trauma-informed support that enables each pupil to feel safe, understood, and successful. Provision can be delivered through 1:1 support or small groups, depending on individual needs and ability, with an emphasis on building trust, improving attendance, and supporting positive behaviour and learning progress.
Our approach combines education with care, giving young people the space to learn new skills, connect with animals and the outdoors, and feel genuine pride in what they achieve each day.
Accreditations
We offer AQA Unit Award Scheme accreditation across our farm-based pathways, including animal care. Learners work towards a personalised set of units linked to the activities they complete, such as equine care, small animal care, wider animal husbandry routines, land-based skills, gardening, and workshop tasks.
This approach recognises progress in small, achievable steps, helping pupils build confidence, evidence their learning, and achieve nationally recognised outcomes.
