Chester Park Road (BS16) - Street tree felling consultation

This is a repeat of a previous consultation about the felling of one lime tree on Chester Park Road due to the tree causing damage to a neighbouring property. This consultation provides additional information.

Location of the tree

The tree is located on Chester Park Road, at the location shown on the map and in the photo below.

Reason for removal

The lime tree has been conclusively implicated in subsidence related damage to an adjacent property and regretfully, we propose that it must be removed to prevent further damage.

Unless appropriate action is taken, Bristol City Council will be liable to pay damages that far exceed the value of the tree.

Other solutions that have been considered

Pollarding/pruning the tree as a management solution has already been attempted and unfortunately it has not been successful in preventing ongoing subsidence damage.

Engineering solutions such as root barrier installation, underpinning, resin injection systems have all been considered but are not feasible in this case.

Replacing the tree

Funding is required to plant a replacement tree. If you would like the tree to be replaced, you can sponsor the tree by visiting our website or contact your local Councillor.

Commitment to trees

As a council, we are committed to increasing the number of trees in Bristol with 100,000 trees planted since 2015 as part of the One Tree Per Child and Trees for Streets programmes.
