Active Travel Fund 4: Walking and Cycling Schemes
The work to plan these active travel schemes is being funded by tranche four of the Active Travel Fund from the Department for Transport, which is administered by the West of England Combined Authority. We have used part of this funding to present possible measures on maps of these routes.
The 4 routes have been identified in the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan.
We have used part of this funding to present possible measures on maps of these routes.
They include:
- Deanery Road
- Filwood Quietway
- Malago Greenway
- Old Market Quietway
Possible improvements could include segregated cycle paths, upgraded or new crossings, upgraded junctions, public realm improvements and wayfinding.
These sorts of improvements can help promote healthy travel choices, reduce emissions, create safer environments, and help grow the economy.
Engagement results
The public engagement provided feedback on the outline designs, from which the project teams have been taking comments on board to update the designs.

With the Active Travel Fund tranche 4 funding having now come to a close, this first stage of the project has now been completed.
Next steps
The next stage for these active travel schemes is to bid for further funding to enable us to work on more detailed designs. We will come back out to public consultation to seek feedback on the updated designs before we move towards constructing the schemes.
