You can get a copy of death, marriage, birth and civil partnership certificates by post.

You will be unable to order a certificate online from:

3pm Friday 15 February 2019 to 10am Monday 18 February 2019

This is because of maintenance.

What you need to know

We can’t take applications over the phone.

Standard service

Our standard service costs £11 for each certificate plus £3.00 postage and admin fee.  The certificate will be dispatched within three working days.  All certificates are sent by 'signed for' delivery (UK only).

Priority service

If you need the certificate quickly we also offer a priority service where orders placed before 2pm will be available to collect after two hours or will be posted to you special delivery the same day to arrive the next working day.  This service costs £31

By post

Print and fill in an application form:

Post the form to: Bristol Register Office, The Old Council House, Corn Street, Bristol, BS1 1JG. 

Include your payment (if paying by cheque) and a stamped addressed envelope for the certificate to be posted back to you.

You can come to the Register Office to hand in the form to us.

In person

You can order certificates in person at the Register Office.

  • Monday: 9am to 4pm
  • Tuesday: 9am to 4pm
  • Wednesday: 10am to 4pm
  • Thursday: 9am to 4pm
  • Friday: 9am to 4pm
