How we've used your feedback to develop the Local Offer in 2025 and 2026.
Over the last year, children, young people, parents and carers have shared their views about the Bristol SEND Local Offer website. We want to thank everyone who took the time to tell us what they think. Your feedback is helping to shape improvements to the website.
What you told us
Finding information
Some families and young people told us that it can be hard to find the information they need. They wanted information grouped into clear topics and easier ways to find what they need.
Language and design
Children, young people and parent carers told us they would like less text, more pictures and a design that is easier to use and understand. Children and young people also said they wanted the website to feel more relevant to them.
Clear and up to date information
Families told us it is important that information is correct, easy to understand and kept up to date. They also wanted clear information about the support available and how to get help.
More information and support
Young people wanted more information about jobs, volunteering, wellbeing and activities in their community. Families also wanted more information about support for parents, carers and siblings.
Raising awareness
Some families told us they did not know about the Local Offer website and would like schools and professionals to help promote it.
How your feedback is shaping future improvements
We've listened to your feedback and are using it to shape the next phase of improvements to the SEND Local Offer website. Work is underway behind the scenes and over the coming months we'll:
- make the homepage easier to use
- organise information so it is easier to find
- create a new design with more pictures and less text
- use real photos to make the website feel more welcoming
- continue to use ideas from children and young people to help shape the website
- make the website easier to read and use for everyone
- work with Bristol Parent Carers and the Listening Partnership to help improve the website
- review information regularly to keep it up to date and accurate
What will happen next
The improvements are currently being developed and will be introduced in stages. Over the coming months, we'll:
- launch the new look for the Local Offer website
- improve search and links between pages
- update information about education, health, social care and preparing for adult life
- show more clearly how feedback has helped us make changes
- continue working with families, children, young people and partner organisations to improve the website
