Abbreviation and acronyms
Spell out an acronym or abbreviation the first time you use it, unless it’s well known and used more widely than the full name. For example BBC, NHS or UK.
Put the acronym or abbreviation in brackets directly after you spell it out. For example, 'Residents’ Parking Schemes (RPS)'.
Don’t put full stops or spaces between letters. For example, 'CAZ' not 'C.A.Z'.
To pluralise an acronym or abbreviation, add a lowercase 's' without an apostrophe. For example, 'CDs' or 'PDFs'.
Use your judgement when deciding whether to use an acronym or abbreviation in a page title. The title shouldn’t be too long, but it should be easy to understand and the page easy to find using search.
