Ethnicity and ethnic minorities
Only write about peoples' ethnicity if it's relevant to the content and necessary. For example, 'People of African Caribbean heritage are at higher risk of developing high blood pressure at a younger age'.
When talking about ethnicity try to be specific. For example 'South Asian communities'. If that's not possible, use 'ethnic minorities' not 'Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic', 'BAME' or 'BME'.
Use 'ethnicity', not 'race'.
Use a capital letter when you're writing about ethnicity. For example, 'Black, Asian, African, Black British or Caribbean' or 'people from a White British background'.
