Corporate parenting
Corporate Parenting is the term used to describe our collective responsibility to be a good parent and ensure the best outcomes for the children in and leaving our care. It means caring about children, not just for them, and offering the same standards as any other parent.

Our pledge
Our pledge is a promise made by Bristol City Council and the Children and Families Partnership to all children in care and care leavers. We have a responsibility to make sure that children in and leaving our care are safe, healthy and achieving their goals. Our pledge spells out how we promise to do that.

Bristol has signed up to the Care Leavers Charter Go to (opens new window). The charter includes promises and principles that continue to guide the development of Our Local Offer for Care Leavers.
Our sufficiency plan
We've pdf drafted a plan (662 KB) to make sure there are enough local homes for children in care and care leavers.
You said, we did survey
We regularly send out surveys to all children in care to ask for feedback on what it's like growing up in care in Bristol and how it could be better.
In our last survey in 2021 we got lots of ideas which we've been working on since then.
We worked with our Children in Care Council and they helped us develop 6 priorities:
- pets
- support for emotional wellbeing
- schools
- foster carers
- having a say in decisions
- knowing your story
