About Briz
Our digital assistant Briz is here to help you get quick answers to your questions.
Briz is a digital assistant that helps you find information on our services, including your next bin collection day or how you pay your bills.
You can get answers from Briz anytime, day or night.
Whether you want to chat online or on the phone, Briz is always available to help you.
Briz online
You can find Briz at the bottom-right corner on nearly every page of our site. Select the ‘Ask Briz' button to ask a question.
Before you can chat with Briz, you'll need to confirm you've read and understood our privacy policy .
Tips
To get the best out of Briz, try to use 4 words or more, but don't make the question too long.
You can ask questions about many of our services, including:
- council tax
- bins and recycling
- housing
- planning and building regulations
- parking
- streets and travel
- social care and health
- benefits and financial help
- contact information and opening hours
Briz cannot answer personal questions.
Briz will keep on learning and improving all the time. The range of questions it can answer will increase over time.
If you'd like to provide online feedback when using Briz, you can rate each of Briz's responses.
Briz on the phone
When you call us for most services, Briz will greet you.
Briz will invite you to ask your question. Keep it short and simple, such as "I want to pay my council tax" or "How do I report a missed bin?".
If Briz understands the question
It will either be answered or automatically passed on to a relevant advisor.
If you're able to do your task or get the information you need online, Briz can send you a direct link via text message. When asked “Would you like this answer sent to you as a text message?”, say “Yes” to receive the message.
If Briz does not understand your question
It will ask you to say it again in a different way. If Briz still cannot find an answer, you'll get a list of services. You can then use the keypad to choose the department you want and speak to an advisor.
Housing line
On our housing line, press:
- 1 if calling for an emergency repair with risk to life, limb, fire, or flood
- 2 for all other queries which will then hand you to Briz, where you complete the steps above
