Culture Strategy 2027 to 2037

We're developing a new 10 year Culture Strategy for Bristol. We want to shape this strategy together with the people of this city and the people and organisations who make Bristol's cultural life thrive.

To do this, we're running engagement work to capture as many voices as possible and understand the values and lived experiences of those that shape Bristol's cultural identity.

We're engaging with:

  • the public
  • culture professionals
  • council staff

Have your say

Let us know what matters to you in our survey and help shape our new Culture Strategy.

There's a survey available for the general public and another survey available for those working in the arts and cultural sector.

General public

Share your personal perspective as a Bristol resident and take part in the Culture Strategy Survey for the general public.

Arts and culture sector

Share your perspective as a professional within the arts and culture sector in Bristol. This includes:

  • cultural organisations
  • community groups
  • venues
  • creative practitioners
  • freelancers
  • consultants

The surveys will close Friday 10 July 2026.

The insights gathered from these surveys will inform the priorities and actions within our new Culture Strategy, guiding further decision making and investment in our city's culture.

Cultural Impact Survey

We run an annual survey which captures data from the city's cultural sector to measure the economic return in terms of jobs, investment and social value.

Our annual Cultural Impact Survey for 2024 to 2025 is now open.

It's open to any Bristol cultural or creative organisation, and is part of the funding agreement for current recipients of Cultural Investment Programme Openness or Imagination funding. As well as helping to build a strong picture of the current impact of culture within Bristol, all organisations completing the survey will receive their own individual impact report.

The survey will close on Friday 10 July 2026.

Public Art Strategy and Policy

Find our current Public Art Strategy, policy information and supporting toolkits on Art And The Public Realm Bristol.

The strategy and policy will guide public art and cultural projects in the city's public spaces. They will also shape urban design through planning policy.

The toolkits give extra guidance for developers to meet planning policy requirements. They also support cultural groups and organisations starting their own place-based projects.
