The type of support that could be offered to your child.

Sometimes your child will need extra support.

The type of support offered will depend on the:

  • individual circumstances
  • child's needs
  • school's ordinarily available provision (OAP) offer
  • school's partnership arrangements

We work closely with schools to support children to feel included and stay in their school, by:

  • offering advice to schools about what might be helpful
  • considering how external organisations and agencies could work with individuals
  • providing some resources to further support the child, where appropriate

Proactive inclusion support

We'll work together with parents and carers, and involved professionals to assess the needs and to understand what support a child or young person may need. We'll do this in an Inclusion Support Meeting.

The local authority can support schools to address the needs and identify if there are any additional resources required on top of existing education provision.

Targeted support

Inclusion surgeries are multi-professional surgeries that meet weekly to discuss concerns for children who're not thriving as they should. They're for children who do not have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
