Voluntary park groups are involved with a variety of activities that help improve parks and green spaces or help people enjoy them. For example:

  • raising funds for park facilities and play equipment
  • picking up litter
  • doing things to help wildlife
  • holding fun days and events
  • giving guided walks and talks

We work with park groups to get a better understanding of what people want from their local park.

Health and safety

If you do voluntary work in a park or green space you must be supervised by a member of staff or a volunteer leader to make sure you comply with our health and safety requirements.

If you want to be a volunteer leader, you must attend a one-day health and safety training course. Use our online form to apply:
