Who gets free dental treatment and how to find a dentist

Everyone has the right to visit a NHS dentist.  You don't have to pay for dental treatment if you're:

  • under 18, or under 19 and in full-time education
  • pregnant or have had a baby in the last 12 months
  • being treated for a dental problem in an NHS hospital and your treatment is carried out by the hospital dentist
  • getting low income benefits, or you're under 20 and a dependent of someone receiving them check the NHS low income scheme

You can get free NHS dental treatment if you, your husband, wife or civil partner get:

Bristol Dental Hospital

The Bristol Dental Hospital only gives treatment to people referred by NHS 111. They don't have a walk in service. If you have an urgent dental problem that needs treatment contact your dentist or call 111 for a referral.
