Arrange a viewing
You must be the next of kin, or have permission from the next of kin, to view the deceased and you must make an appointment.

- Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm, call 01275 461927
- Monday to Friday, 3pm to 8pm, call 0117 922 2050
- Saturday and Sunday, 9am to 1pm, call 0117 922 2050
If the person’s death is part of a police investigation, your Police Family Liaison Officer will make the appointment and will be with you for the viewing.
Our viewing times are:
- Monday to Friday: 9am, 10am, 11am, 1pm and 2pm
- Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays: 10am, 11am and 12noon
We usually allow one hour for a viewing, but if you think you might need more time, tell us when booking and we’ll try and help you.
We might be able to arrange a viewing outside these times in exceptional circumstances, such as a sudden death. However, we can’t make an appointment after 8pm.

Flax Bourton Public Mortuary, Old Weston Road, Flax Bourton, BS48 1UL
The Mortuary is six miles from the centre of Bristol in the village of Flax Bourton. Follow the signs marked ‘Coroner’s Court’ from the A370 Long Ashton Bypass.
Free parking is available.
At the viewing
Children can come to a viewing if you, as their parent or guardian, think it’s ok.
Don’t arrive early
Don’t arrive early for your appointment. We only have one area for viewings and the previous family might still be using it.
You can leave a small amount of personal items, such as cards, photos or toys with the deceased. We’ll make sure they stay with the deceased when they’re moved into the care of the funeral director.
