You can pay by Direct Debit, online, by phone, by bank transfer, by post or in person.

By Direct Debit

Setting up a Direct Debit is quick and easy.

You'll need:

  • business rate account number
  • bank name, branch and sort code
  • bank account number and the name(s) on the account

Set up a Direct Debit online

If you'd like to change your Direct Debit, you'll need to fill in a new form.

If the bank account requires more than one signature to authorise a Direct Debit then you must:

  1. complete our  pdf Business Rates Direct Debit form (86 KB)  
  2. email it to business.rates@bristol.gov.uk

Paying online is easy and secure. We accept all major credit and debit cards.

Make a payment online

You'll need the first 11 digits of your business rate account number, which you can find on your bill or reminder. It starts with a 5 and usually consists of numbers not letters.

By phone

Pay by phone using our 24 hour automated payment line 0117 903 6402.

Mobile phone app:

Pay using the Allpay app, available from the Apple App store or Google Play.

Text message:

Pay your business rates by text message through Allpay. To register you'll need your plastic payment card or the 19 digit number printed under the bar code on your bill.

By bank transfer using online or phone banking

By post

Send a cheque made payable to Bristol City Council, along with the payment slip that came with your bill. Write your business rates account number on the front of the cheque, in the top right hand corner.  Tell us if you'd like a receipt.

In person

You can't pay your business rates at the Citizen Service Point for now.
