Key information for providers of adult social care services.

Our vision

Our vision is to align with the best national thinking and developments on the delivery of quality adult social care provision as championed by:

Our vision is that the services we commission empower people to live in a place they call home, with the people and things that they love, in communities where we all look out for one another, doing the things that matter most to them.

Commissioners will work to support our local communities so that people can draw on community resources to live their lives in the way that they want to, with meaning, purpose and connection, whatever their age or stage of life.

Our commissioning operating principles

This is the way in which we intend to work to achieve our vision and sets out how we will support and facilitate the delivery of a quality and sustainable local care market:

Targeted

Reduce reliance on long term care where short term interventions and support can achieve better outcomes.

Sustainable

Deliver a sustainable care market within budget set by cabinet each year, which meets our legislative obligations and implements best practice from across the country.

Funded

Increasingly shift funding across our care ladder towards services that promote early intervention, prevention, personalisation and increase community belonging.

Efficient

Simplify and streamline our frameworks and tenders with our provider market to make it easier for a diverse range of providers to operate effectivity across the city.

Innovative

Build in space to find creative solutions with our providers; encouraging and developing new shared service models and strategic partnerships that benefit people.

Integrated

Take opportunities to integrate with health commissioners where it promotes efficiencies, creates seamless service delivery and produces better outcomes for people.

Co-produced

Increase our levels of co-production through independent support from the VCSE with the people that have lived experience of our services and use evidence to address equality of access.

Locally delivered

Continue to support new locality models that build sufficiency of supply within the local market to meet the needs of Bristol residents.
