About our new build housing programme, where we're building homes and how to comment on a new build planning application or consultation.

Bristol City Council has pledged to deliver 1,769 new council homes by 2027. We aim to use council owned brownfield and derelict sites across Bristol.

A brownfield site is any piece of land that has previously been built on, such as a car park, factory or office building.

The new build housing programme

The new build housing programme aims to use smaller brownfield sites across Bristol to provide new, high quality council homes.

By doing this, we're:

  • making the best use of land we already own
  • improving areas for local communities
  • addressing the demand for affordable housing in Bristol
  • helping reduce antisocial behaviour on derelict sites

We'll advertise the new build properties on Home Choice Bristol.

They'll be advertised 8 weeks before the build is expected to finish.
