Bristol Shares Reading

Tuesdays, 2pm to 3.30pm, Public Meeting Room on the first floor.

A trained facilitator will read aloud great stories and poems. You can relax, listen and join in the conversation about what we have read.  

All reading material is provided, as are tea and biscuits.

Children's story times and activities

Our activities for children aged from 0 to 17 years old include:

  • baby bounce and rhyme sessions
  • regular events and activities during school summer holidays, from simple craft activities to author and illustrator visits. You'll need to book your child's place in advance

Talks to engage, inform and enlighten. Different speakers on different subjects each week.

Senior moments group

Last Tuesday of the month, 10.15am, café area.

This is a very informal social group for the over 60s. 

The group starts with coffee and then a guest speaker comes to talk or demonstrate something.

It costs £1.50 per person for each session, and this includes refreshments.

Visually impaired reading group

Last Thursday of the month, 10.30am to 12pm. 

Anyone who finds it difficult to read printed material is welcome to join. We provide CDs and MP3s using the Calibre Audio Library and encourage members to suggest titles from the Calibre web site.

Holden play readers group

Second Tuesday of the month, 5.45pm to 7pm, Children's Library activity area.

The Holden Play Readers group reads works from the Central Library's drama collection. If you're new to the group and prefer not to read, you can join just to watch.
