For patients attending appointments at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) complex.
If you're attending an appointment at the BRI complex and your vehicle does not meet the zone's emission standards, you can register your vehicle for an exemption for the day of the appointment. Check whether your vehicle is nationally exempt or will be charged on the online vehicle checker (GOV.UK).
The BRI complex includes:
- Bristol Royal Infirmary
- Bristol Heart Institute
- Bristol Royal Hospital for Children
- Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre
- St Michael's Hospital
- Bristol Dental Hospital
- Bristol Eye Hospital
- Central Health Clinic
Information about the exemption will be included with appointment letters sent from the hospital. There will also be signs in the hospitals with information for patients.
The patient does not have to be the driver of the vehicle and can register more than one vehicle if they are dropped off or picked up by different vehicles.
Patients visiting accident and emergency (A&E) departments are also covered by this exemption. The patient exemption covers a single calendar day, so visits to A&E that go beyond midnight will need to be registered twice.
