Exemption for some visitors to the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) complex.

Some visitors to the BRI complex will be eligible for a 7 day exemption from the zone charge.

Specified visitors of inpatients may be granted an exemption if their vehicle does not meet the zone's emissions standards. Check whether your vehicle is nationally exempt or will be charged on the online vehicle checker (GOV.UK).

This exemption can only be granted by hospital ward staff and is issued at their sole discretion based on the clinical needs of the inpatient.

Visitors who are granted this exemption will need to provide their vehicle registration number to the ward staff who will arrange the exemption.

Visitor exemptions are valid for 7 days from the date they're approved by the ward staff.

Ward staff may issue repeat exemptions while the patient is still an inpatient at the hospital.

The hospitals where a zone charge exemption may be given are:

  • Bristol Royal Infirmary

  • Bristol Heart Institute

  • Bristol Royal Hospital for Children

  • Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre

  • St Michael's Hospital

  • Bristol Dental Hospital

  • Bristol Eye Hospital

  • Central Health Clinic
