Gambling Policy 2025 to 2028 consultation
Under the Gambling Act 2005 local authorities are responsible for issuing premises licences, permits and notices for gambling premises. Bristol City Council is required to maintain a policy and review it every 3 years.
We deal with a range of licences for betting shops, casinos, adult gaming centres, on track betting, family entertainment centres, bingo, gaming machines in pubs and clubs, and small society lottery registrations. Other requirements under the Gambling Act 2005 such as online betting, advertising and operator licences are dealt with by the Gambling Commission, and are therefore not covered in our policy.
The next review of the policy must be completed by 31 January 2025, and a revised draft has been completed, which makes a number of small alterations to wording, and legislative changes:
- document draft Statement of Gambling Policy(1.23 MB)
- document summary of the changes(28 KB)
- document draft Local Area Profile(80 KB)
The policy aligns closely with the Guidance for Licensing Authorities issued by the Gambling Commission.
