A free four-week course to help you prepare for the arrival of your new baby.
The course will help you:
- learn more about Family Hubs and the support available to you as new parents in Bristol
- prepare for the birth experience and the early days after having your baby
- get to know your baby and how they communicate, and learn about baby brain development
- find out about the range of support available for your family's emotional wellbeing and relationships
- understand more about feeding your baby and the support available
- meet other new parents in your local area
The groups are jointly run by Family Hubs, infant feeding teams, midwives, and health visitors.
Courses are run from locations across Bristol so you can attend the course in a place convenient to you.
Parents can attend the sessions from 26 weeks of pregnancy.
Ensure that you book one ticket per person attending. Only one ticket for each person is required for the whole four week course.
Course content
Week 1
Learn about support available for new parents from Family Hubs and get to meet other new parents in your local area.
Information about pelvic health, contraception, and session for dads and non-birthing parents.
Week 2
Learn about different feeding choices, how to understand your baby's feeding cues and the support available to help you with your feeding journey.
Week 3
Learn about labour, birth, and post-birth care, and what to expect when you take your baby home.
Week 4
Understand your baby's needs, their communication, brain development, and how to look after your own emotional wellbeing during pregnancy and post-birth.
