Vacant Commercial Property Grant Scheme

Vacant Commercial Property Grant Scheme

What the vacant commercial property grant scheme is, who is eligible for the scheme, and how you can register your interest.

The grant scheme is discretionary and, by repurposing currently empty commercial properties, will focus on bringing new types of businesses, creative and cultural activities, services, and community uses into the city’s centre and high streets.

What the scheme is

You can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to help with costs towards:

  • improvements or modification of commercial buildings
  • building works, including replacement shop fronts
  • new equipment and shop fittings

The amount of grant awarded will depend on length of lease or rental agreement.

Costs that would not be eligible include:

  • work that is already underway
  • staffing costs
  • lease or rental costs
  • business rates and insurance costs

Who can apply

The grant scheme is open to new or expanding small businesses or organisations who wish to lease or rent a currently vacant commercial property located within Bristol’s City Centre and high streets.
