The Children's University encourages children aged 5 to 14 years to get new interests and skills by joining learning activities outside of school.
The Children's University is a national scheme to improve standards of education.
How it works
All Bristol libraries host Children's University activities. Contact your local library to find out more.
If you're a child or young person, you can get a Passport to Learning and get a sticker or stamp for your passport for each of these activities:
- workshops that happen in the library
- children or teenage reading groups
- online reader development, for example using library computers for reading, taking part in online book clubs, reading book blogs and author websites
- author talks
- creative writing, writing blogs and book reviews for websites such as the Summer Reading Challenge
- joining performances in the library, such as children's theatre or dance performances
- choosing books from the library
- ICT skill sessions
A one hour visit to a Bristol library also counts as an activity. Just tell a librarian when you arrive that you're in the Children's University. At the end of your visit, one of our librarians will stamp your Children's University passport.
