What Traders' Parking Permits are, who can apply, how to apply and use permits
Traders' Parking Permit
You can apply for Traders' Parking Permits if you carry out any of these trades commercially:
- Aerial installation
- Bathroom fitting
- Building
- Carpentry
- Carpet fitting
- Decorating
- Electrical installation and maintenance
- Gardening
- Gas fitting and instllation
- Insulation installation
- Joinery
- Kitchen fitting
- Masonry
- Painting
- Plumbing
- Roofing
- Tiling
- Tree surgery
- Window fitting
You must have a legitimate business need to work in one or more parking scheme areas.
Traders' Parking Permits are valid in all of the residents' parking scheme areas but not in the Central Parking Zone.
The permits are digital, you don't need to display anything in the vehicle.
You can buy either:
- a Traders Annual Parking Permit for your vehicle costing £274
- batches of 25 Traders Daily Parking Permits costing £89, up to a limit of three batches per business year
Apply for Traders' Parking Permits
If you have a MiPermit account, sign in to your account to apply online. If you haven't got a MiPermit account you'll need to register and apply online.
Traders' Annual Parking Permit
You'll need:
- an email address to register if you do not have a MiPermit account
- a debit or credit card to pay for your Traders' Annual Parking Permit
- photograph or scan confirming the nature of your trade for example an advert, letterhead, invoice or screenshot of company registration number
- photograph or scan of your professional indemnity insurance or public liability insurance in the name of the business
- photograph or scan of the front and first inside page of your vehicle registration certificate (V5c) / vehicle logbook for vehicle 1
- copy of vehicle insurance documents showing vehicle 1 is covered for business use
- photograph or scan of the front and first inside page of your vehicle registration certificate (V5c) / vehicle logbook for vehicle 2 if you are adding a second vehicle
- copy of vehicle insurance document showing vehicle 2 is covered for business f you are adding a second vehicle.
Traders' Daily Parking Permits
- an email address to register if you do not have a MiPermit account
- a debit or credit card to pay for your Traders' Daily Parking Permits
- photograph or scan of your professional indemnity insurance or public liability insurance in the name of the business
- photograph or scan confirming the nature of your trade for example an advert, letterhead, invoice or screenshot of company registration number.
Use Traders' Daily Parking Permits
You must activate your Traders' Daily Parking Permits when you want to use them. Each permit is valid for one vehicle for one day during the parking scheme' hours of operation. Activate the permit with the vehicle registration number and the date of visit.
You can cancel any Traders' Daily Parking Permit sessions as long as they haven't started.
Activate Traders' Daily Parking Permits
To activate a Traders' Daily Parking permit on the MiPermit website:
- log in to MiPermit
- select 'Manage Digital permits' and then ' Activate Visitor or Traders' Daily Parking Permits'
- add the vehicle registration number and the date of visit
To activate a Traders' Daily Parking permit on the MiPermit smartphone app:
- log in to the MiPermit smartphone app
- select ' Activate Visitor or Traders' Daily Parking Permits'
- add your vehicle registration number and the date of visit

Swap a vehicle registration on a Traders' Daily Parking Permit
To swap a vehicle registration on an active Traders' Daily Parking Permit:
- log in to MiPermit, select 'Activate Visitor or Traders' Daily Parking Permits', change the vehicle registration number and add the date of visit
- call MiPermit on 0345 520 7007
Contractors
If you're carrying out work at a property, you can use pay and display parking, or ask your client to activate a residents parking visitor permit.
If you need to do building works that may take some time, we could suspend an area of parking for you instead of using visitors' permits.
