About the Physical Activity Specialist Award
The Physical Activity Specialist Award helps schools involve movement and physical activity throughout the school day, not only during PE lessons.
The award aims to help:
- schools create a culture of movement
- pupils enjoy being active and develop positive habits for life
What your school needs to do to achieve the award
The award supports your school to review and develop:
- strategic leadership for physical activity
- high-quality PE and inclusive opportunities for all pupils to take part
- movement throughout lessons, the wider curriculum, and active breaks, lunchtimes and travel
- staff knowledge, confidence and training in physical activity
- pupil participation in planning and evaluating activities
- effective use of school grounds and the physical environment, while understanding and reducing barriers to participation
How long it takes
We recommend that you complete the application within one year, so that your answers stay up to date.

After you achieve the award
Your school will:
- recieve a Physical Activity Specialist Award Certificate
- be able to use award logos on your website or letterheads
- be added to the Bristol Healthy Schools website
- recieve further support from the Bristol Healthy Schools Team
