Baby bounce and rhyme and storytime sessions

Baby bounce and rhyme and storytime sessions

If you have a baby, you can come to our baby bounce and rhyme sessions.

For the latest updates, check our Coronavirus: library information page or follow us on:

Some of our libraries share nursery rhymes and songs with families and babies for around 30 minutes every week. See the timetable below.

What we do

One of our librarians leads the singing. Some libraries have rattles and musical instruments for the children. It’s free to join but you will need to book a place.

We welcome older siblings too.

How bounce and rhyme helps

Singing rhymes with babies helps:

  • language development
  • bonding between parent or carer and child
  • children’s understanding of the world around them

For more information, and to join a baby bounce and rhyme session, contact your local library.

Coronavirus safety measures

To keep our staff, those attending Baby, Bounce and Rhyme and other library users safe, there will be fewer sessions taking place in fewer libraries than before.

We’ll review our programme as time goes on to see if we can add in more sessions at more libraries.

Baby Bounce and Rhyme will only be taking place outside of regular library opening hours so normal services, such as borrowing of books, browsing, help with library accounts or enquiries will not be available.

You need to book in advance otherwise you will not be allowed in

Numbers will be restricted to 50% of normal capacity.

Where and when Baby Bounce and Rhyme takes place

Sessions will run every two weeks at:

  • Central Library from 15 September: Wednesdays, 9am
  • Junction 3 Library from 27 September: Mondays, 10:30am and 11:30am
  • Wick Road Library from 30 September: Thursdays, 10:30am and 11:30am
  • Horfield Library from 1 October: Fridays, 10:30am and 11:30am

Sessions run for 20 to 30 minutes.

How to book

You will need to book in advance otherwise you will not be allowed to join.

If possible, only one adult should attend with their child.

Booking is for only one session at a time and each parent or carer can only book for themselves so, you could not book for yourself and a friend for example.
