What you have to pay for a residents' or visitors' parking permit in Bristol and how many you can have.
Charges for pay and display parking and residents parking permits in Bristol’s residents’ parking areas and permitted parking areas are changing in June 2022. For more information visit Traffic Regulation Orders.
Residents' permit scheme area allocations
Eligible properties in the Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) are entitled to apply for 1permit only.
Eligible properties in all the RPS and PPA areas are entitled to apply for up to 3 permits with the following exceptions:
- In all RPS and PPA areas, properties on Private Roads may apply for 1 permit only
- Properties with Off Street Parking in Bower Ashton may apply for up to 3 permits
- Properties with Off Street Parking in Pitlochry Close may apply for up to 2 permits
- Properties with Off Street Parking in Cheswick Village may apply for up to 2 permits
- Properties with Off Street Parking in Edward Road and Chatsworth Road may apply for up to 2 permits
- Properties with Off Street Parking in all other RPS and PPA may apply for 1 permit only.

The table shows residents' permit costs for all areas except Easton and St Philips and Central Parking Zone residents' permits.
Your first residents' permit cost is based on the vehicle with the highest CO2 vehicle emissions tax band.

Residents' Parking Permit payments
Pay for your residents’ permit in full or pay every three months in quarterly instalments. If you choose to pay in quarterly instalments you will still need to renew your permit every year.
Visitors permits
Check the table to see how many visitors' permits you can get . The allocation is reset annually on the date you applied for your first visitors permits.
Each individual visitor permit is valid for one day and any unused visitor permits will expire 12 months after the date of issue.
Extra visitors' permits above your free allocation cost £1.30 each for all zones except Easton and St Philips where they cost £1 each. You need to pay this in full when you order the extra permits.
