Paying by Direct Debit is easy, safe and more convenient for customers.
By increasing the number of payments made by Direct Debit the council can reduce its total payment processing costs, helping to save money that can be used to continue to protect our frontline council services.
To be in with a chance of winning an iPad, Bristol residents must register to pay their council tax bill by Direct Debit before 11:59pm, Friday 31 May 2024.
If you already pay by Direct Debit, you will automatically be entered into the free prize draw.

Terms and conditions
The "Promoter" is Bristol City Council whose registered office is City Hall, College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TR.
- The competition is open to residents of Bristol City Council, aged 18 years or over except employees of the Promoter and councillors at the time of the draw.
- To be eligible for entry residents need to have signed up to pay their Council Tax for 2024/2025 by Direct Debit. Existing Direct Debit payers will be automatically entered into the draw; they do not need to cancel and re-set up their Direct Debit.
- Residents who sign up to Direct Debit will be automatically entered into the prize draw once their first Direct Debit payment is taken. There is no entry fee.
- Only active Direct Debit payers at the time of the draw will be included; residents with cancelled or unpaid Direct Debits will be ineligible.
- These terms and conditions apply to this prize draw.
- The closing date for entry is 11:59pm on Friday 31 May 2024. After this date no further entries to the competition will be permitted or included.
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason, or that are excluded because they are inaccurate or incomplete.
- The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation. The promoter also reserves the right to cancel the competition if circumstances arise outside of its control. Any changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible by the Promoter.
- The prize is as follows: Two Apple iPad Pro 2022 11 Inch Wi-Fi 256GB devices are available. Each winner will win one of the two devices. This prize is for illustration only.
- The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. The prize is not transferable. Prizes are subject to availability and the Promoter reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
- Two winners will be chosen at random, from all entries received by the closing date and verified by the Promoter.
- The winners will be notified by email, telephone or in writing by August 2024. If a winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days, the Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the prize from a winner and pick a replacement winner.
- The Promoter will notify a winner as to when and where the prize can be collected / delivered.
- The Promoter's decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The winners will be invited to accept the prize in person, or the prize may be posted on request.
- The winners will be invited to have their names, details, comments and photograph with the prize published on the council's website and social media channels for the purpose of promoting Direct Debit, but this is not a condition of the Prize Draw.
- Your personal data will be used in conjunction with the Privacy Policy found on the Promoter's website, which is also available on request. Any other personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant's prior consent.
- We will not publish your details unless you give us permission to do so. However, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
