What Love Stapleton Road is, priorities for the area, community meetings and other community groups.

What Love Stapleton Road is

Love Stapleton Road is a partnership between:

  • local residents
  • local businesses
  • Avon and Somerset Police
  • Bristol City Council
  • community organisations

The partnership will work together to make Stapleton Road and the surrounding areas safer, cleaner and more welcoming for everyone.

The name 'Love Stapleton Road' was chosen through a community vote in 2025. The logo was designed by local school children, and the final design was selected by the community.

Why Love Stapleton Road was set up

Love Stapleton Road was set up because of serious concerns from the local community about crime in the area. These concerns were shared by Bristol City Council and Avon and Somerset Police.

We needed to bring together different partners in the city and local area, so the Home Office's Clear, Hold, Build strategy (CHB) was adopted.

The CHB strategy focuses on:

  • reducing serious organised crime
  • tackling other crime and antisocial behaviour
  • helping the community build long term resilience to crime

The starting ideas for this partnership are:

  • community leadership
  • a one city approach, using city and Stapleton Road area partner resources and expertise, for example businesses, charities, youth organisations, health centres and schools
  • a focus on connecting residents, their communities, and local spaces
  • recognising and working with the many resources, assets, groups, knowledge and skills already in the Stapleton Road and surrounding area communities
  • positive action for equity and inclusion, a focus on Stapleton Road and surrounding areas as a welcoming space for all, and celebrating diversity

Priority issues for the area

Ten priority issues and a priority area map were agreed in the December 2024 community meeting:

The priority issues are:

  • open drug dealing, associated crime, and the anti-social impact
  • drug use with anti-social impacts on residents and retail customers
  • waste management, litter and fly-tipping
  • Trading Standards and food hygiene
  • young people, finding positive things to do and anti-social behaviour
  • environmental and physical improvements, for example parks, roads, buildings and lighting
  • unsafe and illegal parking
  • community development and community building
  • business engagement and support for local businesses
  • sex work

These priority issues will be reviewed by the community in 2026.

Community meetings

Community meetings happen every 2 to 3 months. Everyone is welcome.

The first official Love Stapleton Road community meeting took place in December 2024.

The community meetings change, but often include:

  • an update from Avon and Somerset Police and Bristol City Council on recent activities
  • an update from some community groups and organisations on their activities
  • group discussions about the main issues and ideas, focusing on working together and finding solutions
