‘Responsive Repairs’ doesn’t just mean carrying out repairs rapidly and efficiently, it also means being fully responsive to residents’ needs and preferences. Our Responsive Repairs service is based around providing local services, that are inclusive, accessible, safe, and secure.

Ultimately helping us meet our promises, and the needs and preferences of our residents. To achieve this the Responsive Repairs service has a dedicated workforce of over 430, across 12 teams, and the support of several external contractors.

The collaborative working has enabled Responsive Repairs to offer easy access for residents to use our services and this has helped to minimise inconvenience.

Responsive Repairs has always understood the value of having a strong resident voice and placing residents at the heart of everything we do. During the delivery of our repairs, we work closely with our elected members and communities to understand how residents want to interact with our service and operatives. We then continuously build this into our services, such as our Responsive Emergency Out of Hours Service (provided 24 hours, 7 Days a week, 365 Days a year).

The Responsive Service consists of dedicated multidisciplinary trained and technical teams that working collaboratively, be that remote, on site or at our Sandy Park Depot as follows:

  • carpentry
  • electrical
  • gas
  • general Trade
  • technical Support
  • repair Coordination
  • response and Re-let surveying
  • financial and General Business Support

The Responsive Repairs service carries out day-to-day repairs with the aim of completing these correctly the first time and designed around the needs of residents as well as assets. For example, this could include a property that is tenanted or an empty property (void) where we carry out refurbishment works to bring them back to a quality lettable standard. 

In repairing and maintaining of our properties, this helps make sure that the Bristol City Council’s housing stock, remains safe, secure, and are habitable. Most importantly that they provide a home that tenants can be proud of.
