Are you passionate about housing, community engagement, and improving services for residents?

We're looking for a committed and experienced individual to Chair our Resident and Community Panel. The panel brings together residents and community representatives to influence, shape, and improve housing and community services across the city.

The role

As Chair, you'll:

  • lead and facilitate inclusive and well-structured panel meetings
  • ensure all voices are heard and discussions remain constructive
  • work with council officers and panel members to set agendas and priorities
  • support the panel to provide effective challenge, feedback, and recommendations
  • build strong relationships between residents, community groups, and the council

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who:

  • has professional experience and knowledge of housing, resident engagement or community development
  • demonstrates strong communication and facilitation skills
  • can chair meetings confidently, impartially, and effectively
  • is able to act independently and with neutrality, maintaining appropriate distance from operational decision-making
  • is committed to improving outcomes for residents across Bristol
  • values collaboration, inclusion, and resident voice
  • is not currently employed within the council

What we offer

This voluntary role is for 2 years and offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference to housing and community services across Bristol.

We'll reimburse reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses.

Expected time commitment is approximately 50 to 80 hours over the 2 years, including attendance at twelve 2-hour panel meetings and reading meeting papers alongside opportunities to collaborate outside of panel meetings.
