Get a 50% discount if you pay your parking or bus lane fine, also known as a Penalty Charge Notice, within the timeframe shown on your Penalty Charge Notice.
We currently enforce bus lanes under Section 144 of the Transport Act 2000 and Bus Lane Contraventions (Penalty Charges, Adjudication and Enforcement) (England) Regulations 2005).
From 31 May 2022 we'll enforce bus lanes under Section 78 of the Traffic Management Act 2004, The Civil Enforcement of Road Traffic Contraventions (Approved Devices, Charging Guidelines and General Provisions) (England) Regulations 2022 and The Civil Enforcement of Road Traffic Contraventions (Representations and Appeals) (England) Regulations 2022.
Changes to charges
Penalty Charge Notices are currently £60 (reduced to £30 if paid within 14 days).
Penalty Charge Notices issued from 31 May 2022 will be £70 (reduced to £35 if paid within 21 days).
Changes in the appeals process
As part of the appeals process you may currently file a Statutory Declaration.
For Penalty Charge Notices issued from 31 May 2022 you may file a Witness Statement instead.
You'll need your 10 digit Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) number. This will start with the letters BS or OB. If you've lost your PCN fill in our Parking Services form.

What happens if you don't pay
You'll have to pay the full charge if you don't pay or appeal your PCN within 14 days. After 14 days, the charge will carry on growing. We may ask an enforcement agent, also known as a bailiff, to collect the money you owe. You'll also have to pay the bailiff's fees.
